About This Bed and Breakfast
The Inn at Old Harbor, situated on historic Water Street in New Shoreham (Block Island), Rhode Island, is a beautifully restored Victorian-era bed and breakfast built in 1882. Perched at the head of Old Harbor, the inn offers panoramic views of the harbor and is just steps away from shops, restaurants, the ferry terminal and beaches.
Atmosphere
Guests describe the inn’s atmosphere as charming and quintessentially island-style: wide porches with rocking chairs, private balconies overlooking the harbor, and a wrap-around veranda where you can watch boats arrive and depart. The location places you in the heart of Block Island’s historic district, offering easy walkability and a relaxed seaside rhythm.
Cleanliness
Visitors frequently note that the rooms are bright with natural light and breezes, many featuring harbor-facing balconies. While the inn retains historic character (including no elevators and access by stairs) and operates without air-conditioning (fans provided), the cleanliness and views are often praised.
Bathrooms
Each of the eight guest rooms includes a private bath, and several offer private waterfront balconies. Rooms are individually styled and designed to capture the island’s breezes and harbor views. The building’s historic structure means all guest rooms are accessible by stairs only.
